Will our cities EVER be connected by more than airports and traffic-clogged highways? How will we EVER evacuate an entire city when the next hurricane hits?
What the world needs is a superhighway which is green and sustainable. Such a system has been designed by NEWTY Award recipient Justin Sutton. He calls it the Interstate Traveler. The first leg is slated for construction in Michigan in 2008. This alpha system will link the cities of Ann Arbor and Detroit. Once complete, ground will be broken in a growing number of cities and regions, including Central Florida, ultimately connecting all population centers in North America and beyond via high-speed rail.
Justin Sutton will be a featured exhibitor and keynote speaker at the Green Earth Expo and plans to bring a demonstration car from his hydrogen superhighway with him to Orlando for demonstration.

It began as a deep concern for the loss of tree canopy in the southeastern United States, particularly Central Florida, and became a landmark event. The Green Earth Expo will bring together consumers, exhibitors, keynote speakers and vendors under one roof in May of 2008. It will be the world’s largest sustainable commerce and lifestyles trade show event.
With an environmental ethic inspired in part by the book Earth Plan B 2.0 by
Lester Brown, Jim Griffin’s Green Earth Expo will take place in Orlando,
Florida’s Orange County Convention Center in May of 2008. Visit

The disease of scoliosis has many symptoms and side effects that people do not fully understand.
People who have scoliosis find their daily functions are altered. Scoliosis suffers and their loved ones often discount those symptoms as normal behavior.
Have you been told by your doctor, “I can give you something for that problem, but it’s not your scoliosis” or maybe you have been told “scoliosis is only a curve in your spine” and your symptoms are “all in your head.”
Reality is that these symptoms exist, along with many others that intertwine with the neurological, muscular, skeletal, digestive, and hormonal systems.
To help other people understand scoliosis, you must first familiarize yourself with the disease. Then you can help others understand. This free online movie can help.

Volunteers who serve victims experiencing pain and loss may develop a traumatic response called vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue, which left unchecked, could develop into post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
This free online movie shows symptoms and the unhealthy behaviors volunteers and workers may use to deal with symptoms. You will see how to prevent post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and vicarious trauma in volunteers.
During a time of need, being a volunteer or worker can be an immensely rewarding endeavor. It’s essential that it not become a dangerous one as well.

Pollution from lawn mowers and lawn care equipment is a big problem. Tailpipe emissions from cars have been regulated in one form or another for decades. Not so with lawn care equipment.
In fact, until just a few years ago, the patchwork of small engine pollution regulations which has sprung up around the United States did not exist.
Each weekend 54 million people mow their lawns burning 800,000,000 gallons of gasoline a year. Operating a lawn mower one hour could create the same pollution levels as driving a new car 340 miles. A single gasoline lawn mower could create more pollution than 73 new cars.
The Environmental Protection Agency tells us that 5% of our nation’s pollution comes from lawn care equipment. In a single day in Los Angeles, air pollution from lawn equipment exceeds total emissions from all planes in the city’s airspace.
What is the air pollution solution?
Find out in this online movie “Biodiesel Lawn Mowers: The Air Pollution Solution.”

My time as an author here on Keyboard Culture has been an adventure. The quest for fresh content never ends and that’s a good thing. Reversing the global climate crisis will take all of us rowing in the same direction (no pun intended) and there’s a tidal wave of information to communicate (not intended either).
That quest for content led by serendipitously to a story in the August 29 edition of USA Today about Nonnie Chrystal and Florida’s Showcase Green Envirohome. I haven’t been the same since. Nonnie and her husband Mark have included a dizzying array of green technologies into their project and featuring some of them on Keyboard Culture has been very rewarding.
The ramifications of the next-generation structure which is Florida’s Showcase Green Envirohome are broad and beneficial. I have decided to feature two of them at this time. They are solar energy/air conditioners , such as what NASA will use during lunar missions, and Flexi-Pave , recycled asphalt which can help cool urban heat islands.
Once the ribbon-cutting for FSGE is scheduled, I’ll be sure to give you all of the particulars. I, for one, wouldn’t miss the event for anything! It certainly is true that solar energy works above Florida and on the ground.
